A Meeting between Minister for Science and Technology of Pakistan and Minister for Science, Research and Technology of Iran held in Isfahan

A Meeting between the Minister for Science and Technology of Islamic Republic of Pakistan H.E. Mr. Chaudhry Fawad Hussain and the Minister for Science, Research and Technology of Iran H.E. Dr. Mansour Gholami was held on July 09, 2019 in Isfahan, Iran. H.E. Dr. Gholami welcomed the Pakistani Minister with open arms for visiting Isfahan.

Dr. Gholami highlighted that the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology (MSRT) pursues its core objective of promotion and policy making for science, technology and innovation in Iran. MSRT also regulates the governance of Higher Education in Iran, said the Iranian Minister. The Minister said that Iran has adopted the self-reliance policy due to the embargo on his country. This policy has opened new avenues for Iran in the field of science and technology, specially in nano technology. The Development of Science and Technology Parks (STPs) in the country is also a major breakthrough for Iran, said the Minister. Iranian Minister praised Pakistan for hosting the ECOSF, an important specialized agency of ECO in Pakistan.

The Pakistani Minister H.E. Mr. Chaudhry thanked the Iranian for brotherly welcome. He appreciated the self-reliance policy of Iran which has, no doubt, benefited a lot to Iran. The Minister also praised the development of STPs of Iran. Pakistan Minister said that since the independence, Pakistan has worked on to improve science and technology and has achieved many milestones in textile, agriculture, energy, nuclear, space and many others technologies. He further shared that the Pakistani scientists have also made remarkable progress in the fields of computer science, information technology and robotics. Pakistani Minister also shown keen interest in developing the STPs for boosting socio-economic development in Pakistan and sought collaboration of Iran to help facilitate Pakistan in pursuing the shared goals. Pakistan Minister further said that ECO region has great potential in every field specifically energy and science.

Both the Ministers agreed to enhance scientific collaboration between Pakistan and Iran and other countries of ECO region.  Both the Leaders called for a solid way forward to utilize indigenous sources to uplift the masses of the region.

The Meeting was also attended by Additional Minister SRT of Iran, Secretary General of ECO, Ambassador of Pakistan to Iran and President ECOSF.
